An Update on Courtesy Billing at Rouse
Over the past 18 months, we've offered courtesy billing as a way to make therapy more accessible — handling insurance claim paperwork on your behalf so you could focus on your work in the room. For many of you, it made a real difference, and we're glad we could offer it.
After careful evaluation, we've made the decision to sunset the courtesy billing program. The core issue came down to a persistent pattern of insurance companies routing reimbursement checks to us instead of to you, despite our repeated efforts to correct the process.
Resolving each of these errors took significant time and resources, and we weren't able to get insurance panels to stop making the same mistakes. Ultimately, this resulted in confusion and delayed reimbursements to our clients.
What's changing: Starting March 27th, we'll transition courtesy billing clients to superbills. You'll receive a detailed superbill on the 2nd of the month, reflecting your sessions in the previous month. You can submit your superbill directly to your insurance company for reimbursement.
Here's the good news: the process is actually simpler than it sounds. Most major insurance panels now offer easy online portals where you can upload your superbill in just a few minutes — and many clients find they have more visibility and control over their claims this way.
We're building a dedicated resource page to walk you through the process step by step, with instructions for the most common insurance panels. We'll share that link as soon as it's live.
We know change can feel like extra friction, especially when you've already got a lot on your plate. We're committed to making this transition as smooth as possible. If you have questions in the meantime, reach out to admin@rousetherapy.com — we're here.
Thank you for trusting us with your care. That hasn't changed.
With warmth,
David F Khalili, LMFT and The Rouse Team
